Very Practical

This is an interesting and very practical book. The language and exercises are to the point, easy to understand without being condescending. The 21 exercises and 5 appendices cover a broad spectrum of subjects. Each section has an annotated bibliography unique to its subject matter, this alone is worth the price of the book. The pictures and diagrams are practical and helpful. This isn't the book for a theory class or general reading, but for a student of public history or archeology intending to or already working in cultural resource management, this is a very handy, concise and practical book. I picked up the book specifically for the material in several chapters, but found them all informative. I would recommend this for anyone in or intending to be in cultural resource management.

Good book, wish Russell would update the text

I took this course with the author as an undergrad and got a fair amount of use out of it. Years later teaching my own archaeology course I dip into some of the concepts presented here. The text and 'case studies' are imaginative and illuminating. I believe the book is either out of print or nearly so. So I say, bring on the second edition and illuminate this interesting subfield of archaeology for a new generation!

Superbly written and executed

There's no question this book is a first-rate reference insofar as books on this subject are concerned. ADO.NET has been Microsoft's core data provider API since the inception of .NET and that's not going to change in the near future--particularly with its implementation and tight coupling with the powerful Entity Framework.

I'm typically not a fan of the "Cookbook" approach but I make an exception in this case. Mr. Hamilton's presentation is organized into clear, cohesive chunks. He begins with the key aspects of connecting to a variety of data tiers, moves on to working with disconnected data objects, and then proceeds through data operations, enhanced form/web UI's and database object enumeration. It also includes working with XML and optimizing data access for .NET. There's even sections on working with data to maintain its integrity and normalization within SQL Server.

Bottom line, this book has been an invaluable reference for me and I find myself constantly pulling it from my shelf at work and home to prime or simply refresh me on a particular topic. The code samples are extensive. I highly recommend this book for any .NET developers looking to leverage the power of ADO.NET in their applications.

I finally come across a very good ADO.NET textbook. The author has done an excellent job explaning everything that ADO.NET 3.5 has to offer. I really like the textbook structure. The problem/solution approch is awesome. that book is fully loaded with code sample, in which you face with a problem, and the next thing you know is your problem is solved. I highly recommend this book for any developers who need to deepen their knowledge of this great Data Access technology from Microsoft(ADO.NET). Thank you Sir.

Not a comprehensive source for ADO.NET

Just make sure you know what you're getting with this book, and don't expect that it will be the be-all-to-all. If you're new to ADO.NET, you need something more basic. I would also get a plain vanilla reference manual, as it will be difficult to pick out basic structures from this book. It does show many ways to do things, but you have to know what you're looking for, and don't expect exhaustive explanations for what you find or a comprehensive index, either. You need other sources for that. But if you already knew the information from the basic sources, you might not need this book. It seems to be saying, "Look what all you can do with this," but it doesn't give you the basics. Again, if you knew the basics, you could probably write the book.

Powerful prayers from the word of God!

I have not completed the prayer book yet, but so far, it has been a powerful blessing for me. The prayers are very thoughtful and reflect back to the Word of God. I like the structure of the book as well. It starts off with a Bible passage to read and then a reflection Bible verse, asking for forgiveness, praise and worship, then the prayer points, and finally ending with confession. I believe that the author is an anointed man if God. To the author: I wish you many blessings and may you continue to be a blessing to others by the grace of the Holy Spirit. I have even recommended this prayer book to a family member.
